Hunger games book series age rating. Its not unduly gory but there is lots of violence all of it teen on teen. The hunger games was adapted for a 2012 film and the second book catching fire was adapted for a 2014 film. Violence as in the book the hunger games central pageant is a televised battle to the death.

Possibly my favorite scene in the entire book is the final scene with katniss and rue. The hunger games gives something to think about and a positive message to preteens and teens. There has been mucho talk online via social media channels as to what age kids can begin to read the hunger games book series and watch the movies.

The third and final book mockingjay is being adapted into two parts to be released in 2014 and 2015 repectively. The 384 page book contains violence and strong emotions so younger tweens may find it disturbing. The hunger games is the first book in the series and was released on september 14 2008.
